New Orleans will be a city of opportunity, with safe neighborhoods, quality schools for all of our children and good-paying jobs here at home. To move our city forward, the people of New Orleans will work together across the lines that divide us. An open and honest government will show zero tolerance for corruption and will focus on getting the job done. The city will be secure, protected by strong levees and a restored coast. In 2018, New Orleans will celebrate her 300th Anniversary as a world-class city.
More Jobs
Mitch Landrieu will create good-paying jobs so that all of our people have the opportunity to work.
Better Schools
Mitch Landrieu will be a champion for our kids and our schools, so all children have the opportunity to reach their God-given potential.
Safer Streets
Mitch’s plan combines aggressive crime fighting techniques, strong leadership from the Mayor’s office and a rededication to crime prevention through community outreach and policing.
Health Care
All residents deserve affordable and accessible health care. That’s why Mitch Landrieu will build a first-rate hospital in New Orleans East and a state-of-the-art biomedical complex in Mid-City. As a parent, Mitch knows New Orleans families shouldn’t have to drive 30 minutes or to a neighboring parish to get medical help.
Blight
If New Orleans is to fully recover from Hurricane Katrina, we must solve longstanding problems associated with having more than 50,000 blighted properties in our community. How can we expect residents to invest in rebuilding their properties when a blighted house or lot remains next door?
New Orleans Recreation Department
Rebuilding after-school and recreation programs is a key part of Mitch Landrieu’s crime plan and a new NORD will be central to crime prevention. Under Mitch’s administration, the New Orleans Police Department and NORD staff will ensure that playgrounds are free of criminal activity and drug-dealing.
Open and Honest Government
Mitch Landrieu will bring a culture of open and honest government to New Orleans. He plans to create a level playing field for those who want to do business in our city, supporting participation by disadvantaged businesses in city contracts.
