Mitch Landrieu Applauds Federal Arbitration Ruling Granting Louisiana $474.7 Million to Replace Charity Hospital
January 27, 2010
Today a federal arbitration panel awarded the state of Louisiana a $474.7 million public assistance grant to build the planned Louisiana State University medical complex in Mid-City.
“This settlement has been a long time coming and is a big win for the people of New Orleans,” said Landrieu. “The planned medical complex will provide a badly needed hospital and first class medical services for our residents, reestablish New Orleans as the state’s leader in health care and education, as well as create jobs needed for our full recovery from Katrina. I look forward to working with all parties and we should break ground as soon as possible.”
